The Default Power Plan in Windows 11 is set to save battery and power, but, in my opinion, fails to take into consideration the impact on the user experience.

Default settings:

Notice how short the times are and how 2 things are happening at once ("monitor off "and "sleep")?  This can cause the external monitors to black out seemingly at random and take 10+ seconds to recover.

Recommended settings:

Notice the "monitor off" and "sleep" settings are different for both power types (On battery and Plugged in)?

To Edit your Power Plan, do the following ...

  1. Type power in the search field on the taskbar
  2. Click "Edit Power Plan"
  3. Change your settings to something similar to the second image
  4. Click "Save changes"
